because the answer changes a bit depending on this. for two Androids you have the most options including fully free ones. for two iPhones, the FaceTime screen share trick that PixelPioneer23 mentioned is actually the fastest because there’s nothing to download
for mixed Android and iPhone combos, AirDroid Cast is basically the go-to at this point based on everything people have said here
also worth knowing: if your two Android devices are both Samsung, Samsung has a built-in feature called Smart View that lets you cast to other Samsung devices on the same network. no app download needed. just pull down the notification shade and tap Smart View or Cast

Things Worth Knowing Before You Start

ok i’m going to be the person who mentions the one thing nobody’s talked about what happens to battery life when you’re running a screen mirror 
screen mirroring is actually pretty battery-intensive on both devices. the source phone is constantly transmitting its screen data and the receiving phone is constantly rendering it. running this for long sessions will drain both batteries noticeably faster than normal use
some practical tips:
- keep both phones plugged in if you plan to mirror for more than 30 minutes
- lower screen brightness on both devices while mirroring
- close background apps before starting the mirror session
- if you’re on Wi-Fi mirroring, stay close to the router the further away you are the harder the radio works and the faster the battery drains

Honest Limitations

Also, as TechSphereX mentioned, extended sessions do use battery. LetsView is not uniquely efficient here plan accordingly if you need long sessions.

the FaceTime screen share method is genuinely the easiest thing for two iPhones and nobody has to download anything. PixelPioneer23 mentioned it early on but here are the full steps again for clarity:
- open FaceTime and call the other iPhone (both phones need iOS 15 or above)
- once the call connects, look for a small toolbar at the top of the screen
- tap the share button it looks like a rectangle with a little person in front of it
- tap Share My Screen
- a 3-second countdown runs and then your screen is live on the other phone
the person on the other end sees your screen inside the FaceTime call window. they can see everything you do in real time
to stop sharing, go back to the FaceTime controls and tap the share button again
