Went through this exact thing last month. Tried WhatsApp Web first but my kid kept seeing the linked device notification. Then switched to Xnspy and honestly that was a completely different experience. Runs quiet in the background, shows full WhatsApp chats through a dashboard, and you do not have to touch the phone again after the initial setup. 
Way less stressful than fumbling with QR codes every time.
