Mistakenly deleted my Instagram messages, and now I am looking for a way to recover them. I would like to know some practical methods for using Instagram downloads or any particular app you’re familiar with.

- Select Your activity or Account Center > Your information and permissions.
- Tap Download your information (or Request your information).
- Choose Download or transfer information > select your account.
- Select all available information (or specific types) and Next.
- Choose Download to device and Next.
- Select options: Date range, Format (HTML/JSON), Media Quality.
- Tap Create files and wait for the download link via email (within 4 days).

Yep, your DMs are gone for good. Instagram’s servers don’t do “oops, bring it back.” 
Test this hack, if it works (not too sure)

Go to your Instagram profile and tap the three lines (hamburger menu) in the top right corner.

Go to your activity, then scroll down and select Download your information.

Tap Download or transfer information, choose Some of your information, and then select Messages from the list.

Tap Next and Create files. Instagram will email you a link to download a file containing your messages once it’s ready.

Always look for the date you back up your data on iCloud; the folder contains it if the backup is created before you delete your Instagram messages.
However, you have to overwrite all your data if you’re restoring an entire device from an old backup. That means you are going to lose everything since the backup was created.
