Is it possible to see or recover someone’s deleted Instagram posts? Are there apps or tricks for viewing deleted photos? If you’ve tried it, let me know. I am open to all suggestions.
If you are talking about your own deleted posts, Instagram actually keeps them for a while. There’s a built-in recently deleted section where posts, reels, and stories stay for up to 30 days before being permanently wiped.
You can find it under Profile → Menu → Your activity → Recently deleted. This only applies to your account, though. Once that 30-day window passes, Instagram removes the media from its servers completely.
For someone else’s deleted posts, there’s no official way. Instagram doesn’t provide any feature or API that lets users view deleted content from other accounts. When a post is deleted, the media link expires, and the file is removed from Instagram’s CDN.
So if you’re hoping for a magical “undo delete for others” button, yeah, that doesn’t exist. ![]()
Hey, great question. Unfortunately, deleted Instagram posts cannot be recovered; this is a tricky part of using Instagram. Once content is deleted from IG’s servers, it’s usually gone for good.
So, to save myself from trouble like this, I recently started using Xnspy. If you didn’t have the app before the deletion of posts, you might not retrieve the deleted media, but with Xnspy, even if the posts are deleted by someone, you can still retrieve them.
Also, have you considered setting up monitoring before posts get deleted, or are you trying to recover something that’s already gone?
Honestly, I should have set up the Xnspy beforehand, cause it does sound like a good solution to retrieve deleted Instagram posts. But oh well… can’t cry over spilled milk forever. Also, how’s the compatibility of the app? Will it work on the latest Android device?
As far as I know, Xnspy does work on all kinds of Android devices, but for further confirmation, you can visit the website and see the compatibility checker there. I have installed it on an iPhone, and it’s working well, so it won’t be a problem for Android!!
There’s no official or trustworthy way to view someone else’s deleted Instagram posts. Once a post is removed from Instagram’s servers, it disappears for everyone except the account owner if it’s still within Instagram’s retention window.
On iOS:
-
The safest options are all preventive rather than retroactive. For your own account, you can request your data directly from Instagram by going to Settings → Security → Download Data, which lets you retrieve media you uploaded, including items that were later deleted (as long as Instagram still retains them).
-
To avoid losing future posts, you can enable Save Original Photos in Settings → Account → Original Posts, or use the built-in Screen Recording feature to capture content as it appears.
-
For users who want a more complete personal archive, some people mirror their own Instagram feeds on a Mac using desktop tools like 4K Stogram, which simply downloads content from accounts you have access to. This works as an archive, not a recovery method.
On Android:
- Many so-called solutions require rooting the device or installing unofficial APKs. These approaches are unreliable, can compromise security, and often violate Instagram’s terms. From a privacy and stability standpoint, sticking to iOS’s built-in tools and Instagram’s official features is the safer route.
Honestly, the most reliable method is checking reposts and screenshots. If the post was interesting, controversial, or viral, someone probably reposted it on Instagram, Twitter/X, Reddit, or Facebook.
Group chats and DMs are another goldmine where people screenshot everything. Once something hits the internet, it rarely disappears completely. ![]()
