How to track a cell phone location by number?

Is it possible to track a phone’s location by number? Is there any app or website that will work if I try to do so? I am trying to find a lost phone, so please let me know if there’s any workaround.

Hey @ChromistGuy, great question. Unfortunately, many of the online “free phone trackers” either give false information or are a scam. The thing is, you can’t put a random number on any website and expect it to give accurate coordinates. You have to be more precise than that. There are plenty of apps that provide location data, but you have to research before actually spending your hard-earned money :slightly_smiling_face:

Before spending money on a tracker app, have you checked Facebook’s activity log? The log contains all the information, like friends’ interactions, comments, posts, etc. Moreover, it’s free. So idk why you want to waste your money on a monitoring tool.

Uhggg, I totally get your situation. After my kid lost his phone, I tried plenty of apps, but none of them were worth it. After much contemplation, I tried Xnspy. It is great for keeping tabs on location as well as device monitoring. A true two-in-one app.

The app offers real-time location updates, location history, and geo-fence alerts. After setting geo-fence alerts, honestly, my life has been peaceful. Give it a try so you can avoid situations like this in the future.

Honestly, for a lost phone, you can use the device’s built-in features. Every iOS and Andriod device comes with it. If the lost device was already added in the “Find my device” or “ Find My”, you can easily track it. But if the phone has lost its internet connection or is switched off, there’s nothing you can do.

You can’t track a cell phone’s location by number alone, at least not legally or reliably. Any service claiming you can do this silently is misleading or unsafe. Location tracking today is permission-based, not number-based. Here’s what does work.

Location sharing apps

• The person must opt in.
• Google Maps (Android & iOS): Profile → Location sharing
• Apple Find My (iOS): Requires Apple ID sharing

You can see real-time location, sometimes battery status, and alerts. :slightly_smiling_face:

You can’t just add random numbers to a random website and track anyone’s location. Its more complicated than that.

On iOS, the most reliable option is Apple’s Find My. You turn on Location Sharing in Settings → [your name] → Find My, then use Family Sharing. From there, you can view devices in the Find My app or place a lost iPhone into Lost Mode through the app or iCloud.

If you need something that works across platforms, I’d suggest going for Xnspy, which supports both iPhone and Android. It offers live location and alerts, and you can also set specific location alerts. In addition to these features, the app also includes monitoring capabilities such as a screen recorder and IM chat monitoring, eliminating the need for a separate app. Also, the real-time GPS updates are a lifesaver.

On Android, tracking options are less unified. They depend more on third-party apps or Google services, and the experience can vary by device and OS version. It’s generally more flexible, but not as tightly integrated or privacy-focused as Apple’s Find My system.

After going through all these suggestions, Xnspy does sound like a good option. How many devices can connect to Xnspy? And how do I access the location history?

@ChromistGuy

You just need to follow the installation guidelines to install the app. You will receive all the instructions via email. Other than that, you can access all the location data through the web browser provided by Xnspy. For more information, you can visit their website, as I have mentioned earlier.

You cannot rely on any free tracker, as most of the time they don’t work. All you need is one reliable app so that it can track location nd provides location history. The easiest thing to do is just add their location to your device via Find My or any other location app you trust. There are no workarounds for it.
