I know it sounds weird in 2026, but sometimes the old-school way, “who are you chatting with?” works better than a monitoring app.
Trust the first element that you need to build first.
Plus, if they catch you sneaking around their phone, good luck ever getting a straight answer again.
Set up parental monitoring through Facebook itself? They have some built-in options for minors. Won’t give you full access,s but at least limits who can contact them.
Pair that with the occasional “let me see your phone” spot check. Keep it random so they can’t prepare!

Well, they will not like it, and they will probably make a finsta or some sort of secret accounts that kids use these days. However, at least you will see the way they appear in public! Extra points when you humiliate them with mom/dad comments on their posts.

“Recently Added Friends” list periodically. If you see random adults or suspicious profiles, that’s your red flag. Also, have “the talk” about internet strangers.

Some routers let you see what devices are accessing what sites/apps and when. Won’t tell you the MESSAGE content, but you’ll know if they’re on Messenger at 3 am when they should be sleeping.
