If the passenger is on an iPhone and you are both in the same Apple ecosystem, you can ask them to share their location permanently through the Find My app or iMessage. Once that is set up, you can open Find My anytime and see exactly where they are, no Uber involvement required. The location updates live as they move.
For Android users, Google Maps location sharing does the same thing. The person shares their location with you once and you can check it anytime from your Google Maps.
